I had it all, and I threw it away with a semester of drugs, alcohol, and pissing off anyone who tried to stop me. Now I\u2019m suspended from the team, on house arrest, and forced to spend a semester at home to get my shit together. The cherry on my fuckup sundae? Sleeping in the room next to mine is my best friend\u2019s girl, Mia Mendez\u2014the only woman I\u2019ve ever loved and a reminder of everything I regret.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure if having Mia so close will be heaven or hell. She\u2019s off-limits\u2014and not just because she\u2019s working for my dad. Her heart belongs to someone else. But since the accident that killed her brother and changed everything, she walks around like a zombie, shutting out her friends and ignoring her dreams. We\u2019re both broken, numb, and stuck in limbo.<\/p>\n<p>Until I break my own rules and touch her.<br \/>\nUntil she saves me from my nightmares by climbing into my bed.<br \/>\nUntil the only thing I want more than having Mia for myself is to protect her from the truth. <\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t rewrite the past, but I refuse to leave her heart in the hands of fate. For this girl, I\u2019d climb into the sky and rearrange the stars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kommentar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meine erste Erfahrung mit Lexi Ryan w\u00fcrde ich als zwiesp\u00e4ltig bezeichnen. Das Buch hat stark begonnen, dann aber ziemlich nachgelassen, um in Mittelm\u00e4\u00dfigkeit zu versinken. An sich ist die Geschichte spannend angelegt: Die aktuelle Handlung steht in unmittelbarem Zusammenhang mit einem omin\u00f6sen Unfall, ohne dass man zun\u00e4chst erf\u00e4hrt, wie genau. In R\u00fcckblenden werden nach und nach die Ereignisse der Vergangeheit aufgedeckt, die zu diesem Unfall und den lebensver\u00e4ndenden Auswirkungen f\u00fcr Mia und Arrow f\u00fchrten. Die Handlungen der Protagonisten in der Gegenwart und Vergangenheit waren ab einem gewissen Punkt allerdings wirklich nervig und erm\u00fcdend, zumal sich die beiden zu jeder Zeit stetig im Kreis drehten, ihre Liebe verleugneten und kein St\u00fcck vorankamen. Was zugegebenerma\u00dfen vor allem an der Heldin lag. <\/p>\n<p>Diese war noch aus einem anderen Grund nervig: Sie ist mal wieder eine von diesen Figuren, die durch und durch perfekt sind und alles k\u00f6nnen. Mia kommt aus schwierigen Familienverh\u00e4ltnissen, aber sie ist klug, lieb, hat die sch\u00f6nste (Sing-)Stimme der Welt, einen Sinn f\u00fcr die Familie bzw. die Familienehre, sie ist loyal und vern\u00fcnftig, kann hervorrgend kochen und mit Kindern umgehen und ist \u2013 nat\u00fcrlich! \u2013 wuuuuuuundersch\u00f6n. Demzufolge steht so ungef\u00e4hr jeder Typ, der in dem Buch auftaucht, auf sie: also nicht nur Arrow und sein bester Freund Brogan, zwischen denen sich Mia in der Vergangenheit entscheiden musste, sondern auch s\u00e4mtliche Football-Buddies der beiden. G\u00e4hn.<\/p>\n<p>Ich w\u00fcrde dennoch nicht auschlie\u00dfen, noch mal ein Buch der Autorin zu lesen, denn es hatte trotzdem auch nette Momente. Vielleicht versuch ich\u2019s irgendwann mit dem Buch \u00fcber Mias Freundin Bailey; ich habs jedenfalls mal auf meine Vielleicht-Lesen-Liste gepackt.<\/p>\n<p>Das Buch gibts \u00fcbrigens umsonst bei Amazon, wer es also mal ausprobieren will, kann gefahrlos reinlesen. Es sei noch erw\u00e4hnt: Es gibt keine einzige Football-Szene, obwohl Arrow ein Footballspieler ist.
